My wife and I come here quite often now. This is our go to for a quick and cheap takeaway meal. One the last decent local fish and chip shops with good prices and fast service. Usually get the schnitzel burger or a steak sandwich both quite good. Quality takeaway for 2 under $30 is hard to find now.

First time I’m been here having lost faith and patience in the new owners of coburg hill fish and chips despite the latter being only 50 metres from my doorstop. Loads of easy parking right out front. Food was ready upon arrival in line with the webapp-advised schedule. Very friendly staff, including the lady (one Reviewer perhaps caught her on a bad day, we all have them to be fair). The three different types of gourmet burgers we had were bang on. Right size and great taste. Souva was good. Chips were fantastic, traditional chippy chips, different to the ‘same same supplier/cooking method’ chips you get at most other chip shops. Mini potato cakes are smaller than expected but match the name so can’t grumble - they were cooked well though. We’ll probably buy the 10 pack next time because the individual price is probably a bit hard to justify regardless of how good they taste. Overall we were happy, our kids were happy, so I think a 15 minute drive is well worth it.

EDIT: The owner reached out via phone today, apologised for the error and rectified it. We will definitely be coming back here every time we have Fish & Chips from now on. The service has been second to none.
Fish & Chips from Yarra Ave used to be a weekly ritual in our household until the old owner sold up years ago and the food went downhill really quickly. We decided to give it another try recently and were pleasantly surprised at the improvement of the food.
I was craving fish & chips tonight after a long day so we decided to phone through an order. We repeated our order twice on the phone and the girl taking the order then repeated it back to us to make sure it was correct, which it was. When we got to the shop to pick up the order, the staff member repeated our order again, as it was rung up on the register for us to pay. Once again, the order was repeated correctly. We got home ready to tuck in and found that we had only been given 2x fish nuggets, despite ordering and paying for 2 of the 5x fish nuggets (10 total). Tried to call the shop as soon as we realised however the phone went unanswered.

This place is always soooo busy and for good reason. It’s just the best casual fish n chips place I’ve honestly ever been to. Everything is always so fresh with clean oil, the customer service is great and you always end your meal with a smile. I absolutely recommend this place. If you’re sitting on the fence about giving it a go please go and try for yourself 😍🐙
